Executive Director Receives Internationally Significant Award: "Important recognition for our strong work preventing sexual violence against children"

Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen, the Executive Director of Protect Children, has been awarded for her significant contribution to preventing sexual violence against children online. Vaaranen-Valkonen received the prestigious "Most Significant Contribution to the Global Response to Online CSA Award" at the 2024 Excellence in Online Protection gala event. The prize distribution was organized in connection with the international PIER24 conference, which brings together all the most important players in the field worldwide to develop and share information for the prevention of, especially technology-mediated, sexual crimes against children. 


"This recognition is not only a personal honor, but it reflects the strong dedication of the entire Protect Children team of specialists and our strong work. We are strongly committed to protecting children from all forms of sexual violence, and this award motivates us to do even more – developing innovative solutions and strengthening our extensive international fight against sexual violence against children" says a delighted and overwhelmed Vaaranen-Valkonen.  


Protect Children fights strongly against all forms of sexual violence against children as well as enhances the Rights of the Child especially in digital environments. The primary and only goal of the work is to prevent all sexual violence, harassment and grooming against children. Protect Children’s work respects and highlights the voices and wisdom of victims and survivors as well as their families and close ones. The organization's work is very well-known and respected all over the world, and the innovations and research have received significant international attention. Protect Children team’s research articles have been published in the world's most highly regarded scientific publications.
